Our Vision PDF Print E-mail

The overall vision of the AIR Football project is to support vulnerable people to improve physical and mental health, enhance their quality of life, confidence, self esteem and work toward a healthier lifestyle.

  • To help our players improve their health and fitness through access to regular exercise, skills and technique training, match experience and on site advice and support about health promotion / social care related issues.

  • To provide structured activities, which are a safe and postive alternative to substance misuse.

  • To promote social inclusion through participation in a team sport and intergration with the wider community via regular inner/outer london friendly/league/tournament matches.

  • To enable our players to explore their capabilities and potential, find productive outlets for anger/frustration, increase their motivation/self esteem, develop social links and improve their communication and team working skills.

  • To support our players in developing more productive lifestyles through signposting to treatment services (mental health/substance misuse) and support with access to education/training through the provision of free courses, employment support, advice and in-house employment opportunities through our trainee coaching scheme. This enables them to move through the mental health/substance misuse "system" and regain independence.

  • To provide outreach support to our players outside of project hours to help engage and retain people in the project, and support them through difficult periods when they are most vulnerable, thus preventing problems escalating.

  • To provide opportunities for our players to participate in football regardless of age, sex, disability, religion, ethnic backround, ability and sexual orientation.
