PREMIERSHIP PLAYER HANDS OUT AWARDS !!! PDF Print E-mail

The AIR Football awards day was yet again a massive success on and off the pitch.

The day began at 12 o clock with baseline fitness testing by the worlds leading fitness
centre Fitness first. The testing allows the players to learn about their bodies condition and to monitor improvements.

With 14 teams attending, the tournament was the biggest and best yet !!!!
As well as six AIR Football teams (51 players), there were teams from our sponsors, service providers, a celebrity 3 lions team and our guests. The atmosphere was excellent and the football played to a very high standard.

Each team played six ten minute games to decide the last four. The groups were evenly matched with Group A being won by AIR 1 on goal difference over Newham kickers. AIR 6 beat AIR 2 to top their group and set up two mouth-watering semi finals.
The semi's played out to cheering supporters were very competitive, tight and won by AIR 1 and Newham kickers.

The semi's and final were witnessed by WEST HAM/WALES defender JAMES COLLINS who remarked how impressed he was with the quality of football being displayed, "i wish i had my boots with me" !!! ("Next time" Colm said).

In what was 10 mins of the finest football, the cup rightly went to the Newham kickers with a 3-1 win. It was quite ironic that James would hand the cup
over to the team who sported the west ham kit on the day. WELL DONE TO NEWHAM KICKERS !!!!!!!!

Everyone then made their way inside the club-house for the AIR Football awards which were presented to the players by JAMES COLLINS.
The awards are to recognise the achievements of the players and for the commitment shown over the past few months.
Their were 12 special achievement awards who each received a trophy and tickets as a group to a Leyton Orient home game. The final awards of the day were for the Player's Player, with all players nominating their chosen player from Redbridge & Newham over a three week period based on ability, improvement, commitment or attitude towards other players.......... these two awards were extremely close and should be given a special place in the winners homes as it came from their fellow players, they were each presented with a trophy and tickets to the UEFA Cup game between Tottenham Hotspur & Dynamo Zagreb played that evening (also travel & food provided).

After that is was time for some delicious food (jamaican & indian style with party food) which was eaten and enjoyed and topped off by a Live Performance by RnB group NICOLE JANE.

The day confirms AIR Football as a leading development through football project committed to creating a healthier and more positive lifestyle for the men and women involved.

Enjoy some picture's taken on the day.

AIR Football ladies performed brillantly to reach the semi final's of the Newham Community Challenge in a very busy Upton Park stadium.

The ladies team reached the semi's after topping their group with very impressive 5-0, 4-0 wins and a 0-0 draw, the goals coming from Marie Gamage ( 6 ), Zoella White-Freeman ( 2 ) and Dionne Underwood. In the semi final they couldnt beat their opponents after conceding early on, they rained shot after shot on the opposing goal before going down 1-0 but to very happy travelling supporters who cheered them on throughout the evening.

There was a happy ending for one player who was scouted by two pro teams and has been invited to trials very soon.

Well done girls, we are all very proud of you.
